AI Capability Programme

Programme Goal

Position NeoAsia as an AI leader in the medical device distribution industry by enabling 20 key people to independently design, build, and deploy agentic AI solutions.

Industry Leadership
Position NeoAsia as the AI leader in medical device distribution
Early Mover Advantage
Employees learn and adopt AI before competitors catch up
From Fundamentals to Production
Participants progress from AI literacy to deploying production-grade agents
Self-Sustaining Capability
No ongoing dependency on external consultants — the capability stays in-house

Phase 1: Strategic Assessment

A structured assessment before the programme begins, covering two areas:

A. AI Readiness & Use Case Mapping

Half-day on-site with the data scientist, IT Manager, and key stakeholders.

  • Map current tech landscape, data maturity, and existing AI work
  • Identify and prioritise 3-5 high-impact AI use cases
  • Define the AI and data strategy

B. EDB Grant Application Support

  • Introduction to the EDB Training Grant (TG(C)) and how it applies to NeoAsia
  • Write the full Training Plan — the core document required for the grant application
  • Support NeoAsia through the entire application process

Phase 2: AI Capability Programme

A 12-month programme training 20 key people in two batches of 10, from AI fundamentals to production deployment.

Two Batches of 10
Batch 1 (Months 1-6) shapes the programme. Batch 2 (Months 7-12) benefits from refined curriculum and internal mentors.
Hands-On Learning
In-person workshops combined with on-the-job training. Participants apply AI to real NeoAsia processes in their area.
Technical Backbone
Data scientist and IT manager receive deeper enablement throughout all 12 months — they become the internal AI platform owners.
Capstone Graduation
Each participant presents their AI transformation journey — from process mapping to production agents.

6-Month Curriculum (Per Batch)

Months 1-2: Foundation & Design

Participants learn where AI creates value and how to design the bridge from human processes to AI-powered operations.

Month 1: Fundamentals & Process Mapping

Workshop What is AI, what are agents, what's possible. Live demos. Use case evaluation: feasibility, impact, data readiness.

On-the-Job Map 2-3 processes. Write use case brief with data requirements and context definition.

Reflection Peer review of process maps and use case briefs. DS/IT feasibility feedback.

Month 2: Context Design & Data Strategy

Workshop How agents use context — documents, databases, APIs. Data quality. Human-to-AI-Agent Framework. System & user prompt design.

On-the-Job Map data sources with DS. Define agent context. Build knowledge base structure.

Reflection Present context maps. DS validates data availability.

Milestone: First AI agent prototype deployed by data scientist using the agent harness.

Investment & EDB Grant Economics

The programme is designed to be co-funded through the EDB Training Grant, dramatically reducing NeoAsia's net investment.

Programme Investment
S$5,000 (Phase 1) + S$10,000/month (Phase 2) — S$125,000 total over 12 months
EDB Training Grant
Government reimburses NeoAsia for employee salary costs during training — both formal sessions and on-the-job training count
How It Works
Grant per trainee = (training days / 22 working days) x S$2,500 per month
Net Cost
With moderate on-the-job training, NeoAsia's net cost drops to under S$1,000/month

Scenario Calculator

Adjust the number of trainees and on-the-job training intensity to see how the grant offsets programme costs.

S$909 Net cost per month
S$15,908 Net total (12 months + Phase 1)
S$109,092 Total EDB grant reimbursement

Next Steps

1
Confirm interest

Agree to proceed — planning of Phase 1 begins.

2
Phase 1: Strategic Assessment

AI readiness assessment completed, Training Plan written, grant application ready to submit.

3
Submit grant application

NeoAsia submits the TG(C) application to EDB. Must be submitted before training starts.

4
Nominate participants

During the approval period, select participants for Batch 1 — informed by Phase 1 findings.

5
Programme begins

Batch 1 starts after grant approval. Batch 2 follows in Month 7.
